About 15 years ago I, Ivor, went on a wintry 3 day hike with 3 other deaf men - Heinrich Kutzner, John Gouws and another young deaf man (I can't remember his name) - in Magoebaskloof near Tzaneen, Limpopo ( Northern Transvaal ).
On the first day of the hike, Heinrich prayed to God for protection. The four of us were excited to do a full day's hike. We arrived at the second camp in the late afternoon and stayed there for the night.
The next morning I prayed a very short prayer of protection to God and we continued on our hike. In the mid noon we saw a small beautiful waterfall and stopped there to rest a while. We took off our hiking bags and Heinrich wanted to go to the bottom of the waterfall to take a photo. John decided to go down, as well as the young deaf man and myself. I was last and as I was walking on a ledge, I lost my balance. I tried to grab a small branch but it was too late and I fell head first towards the stony water area below. As I was falling, I felt my head being tilted onto my chest (I believe by the hand of God's angel) and my body then followed. I landed on the rocks on my back. I was unharmed, not even the smallest cut but my hat was torn. I got up immediately and found myself ankle-deep in the ice-cold water. I felt fine after the fall which was like falling from the rooftop to the ground. The deaf men saw everything as I fell. Praise the Lord for being so wonderful and good to us and also for hearing my prayer!
I will never forget how God saved me. I still have the torn hat ...
