After much prayers and preparations, on the 26 th June 2004 our group (Frank, Sheri, Kim, Inge and Paulo) went up to Rustenburg, at the Rustenburg Deaf Association meeting at Mike's home in Tlhabane. We met quite lot of Deaf people there. We shared with them on the future plan of our teaching on Bible story in sign language to Deaf people in Northwest Province . We also took an opportunity to give them an ideal example of one Bible story, called Joshua and the Jericho Wall (Joshua 2-4). We received a very positive response from the Deaf people, who want to start the study of the Word of God in sign language. There are a real spiritual hunger and longing for God's Living Word.
On the 9 th October 2004 , Frank, Sheri and Inge were asked to come and start teaching the Chronological Bible Storying with a group of 7 Deaf people. We met at Agnes' house and introduced the first four stories on Bible, Characteristics of God, Creation of a Spirit World, and the Creation of Heaven and Earth to the group. The group was excited and understood the stories better and wanted more!! They have asked us to come back again next month to continue with the other 4 new stories! They are so excited that they can tell the other Deaf the stories about God. Pray that the Lord will guide them in learning to tell the stories to their families and friends. We are excited to see God's work in Northwest Province.
Any Deaf person can learn the Bible and they too can tell other Deaf friends, families and colleagues, etc. the Bible stories in the Old and New Testaments. Besides, we are currently teaching and sharing on that in Gauteng . Some areas are going very well and large numbers of Deaf people have benefited greatly from it and grown spiritually too. All thanks go to our faithful Jesus, who works in this wonderful ministry.
We invite and welcome you, all, who live in the area of Northwest Province , to come over to Rustenburg one Saturday every month. It starts in the morning and lasts till at about lunch time. If you are interested, you can contact us by our fax number: 011 462 1437 or email: info@deaf.org.za or cell number: 083 388 2493 (SMS). Your support and prayer are much appreciated too.
