Covenant
Life Church in Benoni planted Breakthru Church in the
south of Boksburg two years ago. Steve & Jenny Duff (H)
are the elders. The service was held in a Girl-Guide
Hall on Sunday evening.
In
January 2003 the Sunday service was changed to morning
service. In the beginning of this year we decided to
join the Breakthru Church. There are now about 9 Deafies,
including ourselves and 3 interpreters, namely Charmaine
Thomas, Mary Gibson and Lucy Pombo. We went to Son
Valley Christian Camp near Delmas for the weekend of 13th
– 15th June for the Leadership Training.
Steve and Jenny Duff encouraged us to go. From Friday
night till Sat night the Leadership Training started,
the three ladies from Presbyterian Church in Benoni
showed us all (about 20 people from Breakthru Church)
how to lay our hands on the people, wait upon the Lord
and receive the words from God. Between the training we
had a few hours off to take part in the games and chat.
We really enjoyed with the hearing people. We were loved
and blessed by them. We were the only deaf couple in the
Leadership Training.
After
the free time we went back to the course where we
identified our Spiritual gifts and learnt how to make
use of the gifts to minister. We pray and seek God’s
perfect will for our part in the spread of the Gospel
among the Deaf. We understood clearly with the help of
the interpreters and we want to thank Charmaine, Mary
and Lucy for giving their time for us. Thanks again. God
